Early Learning Center (ELC)

The Early Learning Center (ELC) has operated for over 40 years and is well respected throughout the Greater New Orleans area. The ELC offers a half day pre-school Christian Developmental Program for 1 to 4 year olds. It is offered during the school year, with a summer camp option.

Various topics are introduced during the year through reading, dramatic play, art, movement, music and other creative methods. Classroom activities are supplemented with a weekly chapel service, a music class and a variety of outside resources.

The curriculum is the result of more than 40 years of experience and is based on sound principles regarding brain development, mastery orientation, emotional well-being and spiritual growth. The ELC adopts the educational philosophy that play, through age-appropriate activities in a child-paced environment, is the best method of learning in early childhood and forms the strongest foundation for later academic achievement.

During the school year, classes are held from 9:00am – 12:00 noon on weekdays, with extended day options until 2:00pm on Monday through Thursday.

During the summer, the ELC offers a 7 week summer program called “Sun Buddies”. This program is on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:00am – 2:00 pm.

Degreed teachers are sought. Professional training is offered to the staff and an investment in new teaching tools is made annually.

Speech and hearing screenings are conducted each year. The 1 year old classes address the growing research regarding early brain development and are unique in the community. The school includes special needs children in their classes.

The playground includes equipment specifically designed to foster motor skill development. Volunteer participation is welcomed. Parent enrichment information and activities are offered throughout the year.
