Music Ministry

The Music Ministry at Woodland serves to glorify God by seeking to encourage and train people of all ages to employ their musical gifts for the service of worshiping God. No matter how great or small are one’s talents, we believe the scriptures teach that all people are to worship the living God through hymns, psalms and spiritual songs that celebrate his majesty and explore his divine attributes, especially as the gospel is brought to greater light through them. It is our hope that no matter where you think you are musically when you come to Woodland, you will be stretched to discover, practice, and improve your ability to worship God through music in the power of the Holy Spirit.

At Woodland we offer a multi-generational worship service that is reflected in our musical choices and instumentation.  We aim for intentional intergenerational interaction, and we hope to challenge everyone.

Our Choir rehearses throughout most of the year and sings larger works of special music with an orchestra for Easter, Holy Week and Christmas, but they assist and serve on all the pieces we employ in worship spanning contemporary 20th and 21st century music including spirituals as well as classics through the 18th and 19th Centuries. Aiding the choir and congregation is our worship team  that consists of drums, bass, guitar, keyboard, piano, vocals and a variety of organs (including a Hammond and our 23 rank Wicks pipe organ www.neworleanschurches.com/woodland/woodland.htm). We work hard to offer the Lord something unique at Woodland and special considering the musical heritage of the city of New Orleans.  Whatever musical gift you have, there is a place for you in Woodland’s music ministry.
